Abstract
The steel production process in the world has demanded from industries an increasingly higher quality of their final products, hydrogen is a problematic element due to its harmful properties, such as significantly reducing the mechanical properties of steel in addition to being capable of nucleating cracks. and aggravate previously existing problems in the material. The present work analyzes the possible sources of hydrogen incorporation in steel, mostly coming from the addition of elements in the metallic bath, such as scrap, fluxes and alloy elements and residual moisture from the refractory elements used in the process such as steel pans and distributors. The work proposes models for predicting hydrogen content in order to prevent the incorporation of this element. An analysis of a database of steels produced with hydrogen in strip was carried out and this data was crossed with the chemical compositions of the added elements and their quantities added in the bath. Correlations between flux additions and hydrogen content in the metal bath were found and the proposed hydrogen prediction models proved to be relevant for use in the field.
