Abstract
Photography as a didactic resource for Geography classes is situated within the context of an imagetic society marked by the use of technological tools for information sha-ring, which foster the development of students as protagonists in the construction of knowled-ge and perceptions of life around them. Thus, the research aimed to analyze the use of photgraphy as a methodological resource in teaching Geography. The study focused on the territorial context of the lower course of the Rio Doce River, in the municipality of Linhares, northern coast of Espírito Santo, and the region of the Rio Marinho plain, between the muni-cipalities of Cariacica and Vila Velha, which comprise the metropolitan region of Greater Vitória-ES. These areas include neighborhoods surrounding high schools that were consulted during the research to obtain information and results from activities using photography with an emphasis on landscape interpretation. Among the analyzed activities were the survey of prior knowledge about the concept of landscape, photography workshops and field trips aimed at analyzing land use and occupation and the impacts of human presence. Finally, students wrote about the places they photographed. Through these methodological procedures, it was possible to conclude that photography engages students from the planning stages through exe-cution and post production, facilitating discussions about various ways of understanding the same landscape.
