Abstract
The electricity consumption has increased significantly both in Brazil as around the whole world. This fact occurs due to the population growth, economic development besides the growing demand for services and products that require electricity. This energy consumption raise generates impacts on the electrical system such as the requirement of construction new power plants. Taking into account the shortage of the energy resources and seeking for the economic and environmental sustaintability, it is necessary to implementation of effective actions in order to assure the energetic efficcience, reducing the energy waste. In this sense, it is fundamental the electricity consumption monitoring aims to promote the consumer awareness of the importance in using the electric energy in a rational way. Hereupon, this work aims to presenting a computational tool that promotes savings in electricity costs to the consumers through changing actions and habits based on energy efficiency concepts. The IF CONSUMO system consists of an intelligent software solution, which allows the user to estimate the consumption of electricity of its residence. After analyzing the consumer data, the software presents information about the energy consumption of the residence and suggests practical recommendations to the user concerning the most efficient use of their equipment.Two case studies were developed, aiming to verify the effectiveness of the developed system and highlighting its efficiency in estimating consumption beside the applicability of the system in the real context of Brazilian residential consumers. Furthermore, the work highligts the mainly functionalities associated with the technical information and practical recommendations provided to the user by the system to enhance the energy efficiency.
