Abstract
This work discusses the national teacher training policy with an emphasis on the Pedagogical Residency Program in the context of the Degree in Biology. The objective is to analyze the contributions of higher education institutions in partnership with Basic Education schools in the training of future Biology teachers. The central hypothesis is that the interaction between theory and practice in initial training enables the construction of professional teaching identity, especially in the teaching of biological sciences. The methodology used is based on qualitative research, through the triangulation of data from residents' observations, reflections and records. The results indicate that experience at school, combined with academic training, enhances the understanding of the teaching role and contributes to more significant training in Biology teaching.
