Abstract
This master's dissertation is the result of the Graduate Program in Professional and Technological Education (PROFEPT), within the research line of Educational Practices in Professional and Technological Education (EPT). The study explores the potential of the Serra do Ouro Branco, in Minas Gerais, as a significant space for educational practices in Professional and Technological Education (EPT). The main objective is to identify the pedagogical potential of the Pedra Quadrada Trail, located in the Serra do Ouro Branco, to create a multidisciplinary didactic guide aimed at educators at the Federal Institute of Minas Gerais (IFMG) – Ouro Branco Campus. The study combines the theories of Geoconservation, Geodiversity, and Geotourism with pedagogical practice, proposing activities that integrate environmental education with an omnilateral and polytechnic perspective. Questionnaires were applied to educators to assess their knowledge of the trail and to identify ways to better utilize this space in teaching and learning activities. Based on the data collected, an Educational Product – an Educational Brochure – was developed and evaluated by teachers, aiming to integrate the natural aspects of the Serra into practical lessons and promote awareness of environmental conservation. The findings underscore the importance of integrating theory and practice within the educational process, highlighting the role of Federal Institutes in training critical citizens committed to the sustainable development of the region where they are located.
