Abstract
This dissertation presents a qualitative research carried out in a Pilot School of the State Department of Education of Minas Gerais whose objective was to analyze the concept of Professional and Technological Education (PTE) implemented in the context of the “New” High School. This final stage of basic education, due to the approval of Law No. 13,415/2017, was segmented into two parts: Basic General Training and Training Itineraries. Through these, it became possible to offer Professional and Technological Education. In this context, the state of Minas Gerais developed the Pilot Schools program, with the aim of implementing it on an experimental basis in the interstice from 2020 to 2023. As techniques for the production of research data, semi-structured interviews were conducted with the management team and with the teachers responsible for teaching the Curricular Component Introduction to the World of Work. The information collected made it possible to identify (dis)continuities between the PTE modality offered in the state network of Minas Gerais and the one postulated by the Marxian and Marxist bases, due to the strong neoliberal influence in this educational policy, which deepened educational inequalities, through a (neo)technicist teaching. As a result, an Educational Product was developed, in video format, entitled Labor Market and World of Work. This material promotes a debate on the peculiarities of an omnilateral and polytechnic education, as opposed to a (neo)technicist education.
