O ensino de fractais na educação básica: museu de fractais no ambiente virtual de aprendizagem

Abstract
Although fractal geometry has been applied to many different disciplines in modern science, such as medicine, arts, meteorology, geography or computer sciences, since its foundation in the 1970s by the mathematician Benoit Mandelbrot, many people are still not familiar with this area; especially, in the Basic Education at school this topic is rarely known. For this reason, this work presents the main concept and basic properties of fractals and also gives some examples. Thereby, the main focus of this work lies in the derivation of a virtual museum in AVA Moodle and an instruction how this didactic tool can be used to introduce fractal geometry in high school. How to make a museum, where students can explore different galleries in which fractals are exhibited, is discussed in detail.
